Nilufer Narli is a Professor of the Faculty of Sociology at the University of Bahcesehir in Istanbul - Turkey, a department that she founded in 2005 and directed until June 2010. She is an expert and researcher in relationships between civil and the military, the status of women in the Muslim world, migration processes in the Balkans. In 1993 she participated in the Eisenhower Fellowship program. She has written several books and articles such as "Women of Milonga", "Trafficking in Persons in South East Europe - a Threat to Human Security", " Unveiling the Fundamentalist Woman: A Case Study of Malay undergraduates", among others. She has actively worked in defending the rights of women since 1995; she also collaborates on social and corporate responsibility projects together with UNILEVER and Microsoft evaluating the impact of these projects. She has worked in different research areas, the most recent (2007-2009) on the impact of the computers in teaching and learning, and "Government and Military - Prospects for change in Turkey " (2004-2006).
